We designed and made our Trait Card pack during our time working within the Youth Offending Service and have had very positive feedback from both young people with whom we have used the cards and from staff at West Sussex Youth Offending Service, where the cards are now in regular use.
Each card represents a character 'trait' which is illustrated above the trait name.
At their most basic level of use the client would be asked to select from the pack any traits which they feel relate to a given emotion, situation or person and to discuss why they have made their selection. The Trait Cards are extremely flexible and can be used in many ways during informal discussion and as the core of structured sessions. They are relevant to a wide range of issues and are capable of delivering focused, targeted work, are fun to use, easy to carry around and are, above all, appealing to young people.

The pack includes 6 cards which give practitioners instructions for using the pack and guidance for sessions that cover; self perception; emotional intelligence; managing anger; peer influence; relationships and family work; equality and diversity; offending behaviour and victim awareness. This ensures Practitioners can feel confident that they are equipped to plan and deliver quality pieces of work tailored to address the needs of each young person.

Trait Cards
There are also two cards which are intended to be separated from the rest of the pack: The 'Good' and 'Bad' cards. These are not intended to be used to make judgements but to prompt further discussion once the young person has made their selections. Finally there are 62 cards illustrated with different 'traits'.
